PARIS IN ANTWERP

In Cities, Fashion, I like on 31/10/2013 at 09:16

All the fashionable young French brands are having a shop in Antwerp, and all of them are in the same street.

The Schuttershofstraat, where you will find also the stores as HERMES, BURBERRY, MONCLER, COCODRILLO, DELVAUX AND OTHER.

The ones I am talking about are typical french new wearable fashion.

OPTICAL ILLUSION.

In Cities, I like on 26/09/2012 at 09:46

My friend Daphne send me these pictures from when she was at the beach in Scheveningen, near The Hague in Holland.

It looks as the boats are floating in the air above the sea.

The colour of the water fades into the colour of the air and gives the illusion that the horizon is much lower then it actually is..

Disturbing  and surprising.

And no, not photoshopped. ūüôā

Please click on the image to have a full view.

I wish all of you a productive and dreamy day.

AFTERNOON IN BRUSSELS.

In Architects, Cities, Fashion, I like on 07/09/2012 at 14:43

I had some time to spend in Brussels yesterday. It was about a year ago that I didn’t go to our capital.and I thought that wandering around, would be the best way to have an impression of what Brussels is today, at least part of it.

In four hours one can not discover a city, but only go through some “quartiers” and see what has changed.

I will show you pictures of some buildings that I like and from some new shops.

And, by the way I was in the SCAPA shop with our Royal Princess Mathilde, She looked very beautiful in a simple blue dress and a YSL bag in brown suede.

Couldn’t take a picture of her as it would have been very inappropriate.

Galerie de la Reine.

I thought that this is a cute idea. High Rise towers made out of Film rolls.

Window display at the DELVAUX boutique

Cute.

”At the sudden death”, One of the oldest brasseries in Brussels.

The “St Michel and St Gudule” Cathedral with a Gothic inspired office building, that I like very much.

Business and banking district.

The “Palais des Beaux Arts” by Victor Horta.

The “Mont des Arts” with a sculpture of Alexander Calder and in the background The gothic tower of the “Hotel de Ville”

The former “Old England” shop that became the Museum of instruments.

On the Boulevard de Waterloo you will find the shop of Christian Liaigre, run by my good friend Isabelle Reynders who is one of the biggest talents in interior decoration in Belgium.

Love PAUKE KA.

Beautiful FERRAGAMO.

KUSAMA for LOUIS VUITTON.

DIOR on the Boulevard de Waterloo.

The lovely boutique of Parisian fashion designer TARA JARMON.

Pictured in the NESPRESSO shop the new limited edition CREALTO . Delicious.

The “PALAIS de JUSTICE” is a restoration in progress. Will never be finished…….. ;-))

I love UTERQUE.

ABERCROMBIE & FITCH have their Belgian outpost in a beautiful city palace. Amazing interiors in black and gold…..

Love this building.

Brussels “park” restored by famed garden architect Jacques Wirtz.

Belgian Parliament.

Private residence in the park. The interior is lit by candles, every day of the year.

The beautiful French Chancellerie.

Artwork by Arne Quinze at the Flemish Parliament.

The former residence of the Princes de Merode.

Never seen this lady before on the avenue Louise. Often one has to look up to discover things… such as this euhhh… work of art or……..

The Victor Horta house on the avenue Louise.

Les Beaux Quartiers……

And the end of my walk, before having dinner at my friends fabulous new house.

Thank you very much to have that little stroll in Brussels with me. Of course there is much more to see, but it will be for in autumn on another sunny day.

Enjoy your week end. Hot and sunny in Belgium, I’m escaping to Knokke het Zoute…… and walk on the beach….in the sun ….

Ciao.

SAINT LAURENT PARIS.

In Cities, Fashion, Paris on 04/09/2012 at 13:26

;

What a brave idea to rename the pret-a-porter collection of Yves Saint Laurent in Saint Laurent Paris.

I believe that Mr. Saint Laurent would have approved this as he, himself named his pret-a-porter collection SAINT LAURENT RIVE GAUCHE.

Saint Laurent was well aware of the changing mood in society and 2 years before the big and violent manifestations of MAI 68 he opened his first boutique and named it RIVE GAUCHE. Referring to the more intellectual and creative side of the Seine.

Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Francoise Sagan, Juliette Greco,Les deux Magots, La Coupole,Brasserie Lipp, Boulevard Saint Germain are some names that remember us this side of Paris.

I’m off for a walk in this amazing weather and be back later.

Bye for now.

Brighton is world renown for his Royal Pavilion. As I am not an historian and don’ t want to write long texts I recommend that you have a look at Wikipedia.
I will show you some pictures of the pavilion in a wonderful light.

PICTURES OF WHAT I LIKED IN ST. TROPEZ.

In Cities, I like, Shops on 27/06/2012 at 12:48

Some pictures can say more then 1000 words.

Beautiful combination of pale green stones with small pink ones.

Sailing yachts in the port.

Colourful blankets in the shop of the Club 55.

Leaving the port for a picnic in sea.

Busy street in late afternoon.

The garden restaurant at the Christian Dior shop.

Who doesn’t want green shoes.

I love ethnic jewellery.

A sneaky view of Paul Signac’s garden of his villa ”La Hune”.

Beautiful.

Hope you enjoyed my pictures, wish you a nice day.

SAINT TROPEZ

In Bags, Cities, Fashion, I like, Shops on 26/06/2012 at 19:04

I’ve spent last week in St. Tropez with my best friend Re. in her marvellous house with views on the bay and the village.

View onto the bay of St. Tropez.

Dolce farniente on the swimming pool and long walks in discovering the new boutiques and what they have to propose.

Christian Dior opened a wonderful shop in a Hotel Particulier and the interior decoration was done by Peter Marino in a Marino style. All in different shades of grey.

A glimpse from the inside. we were constantly accompanied by guards!!! no pictures….

Fendi opened a new boutique and as I was always a big fan of their Peekaboo, Re was getting my attention that the leather quality is not really nice and indeed I really don’t love the grain of the leather they use, so exit of my best seller list.

 Window display at Fendi

Funny bags at Fendi.

It is still not summer and some shops sell already the A/W 2012 collections. At Erthee the almost complete collection of Celine was in the shop and every piece was more beautiful then the other, a simple minimal look with much beautiful, well cut leather garments and thick woollen sweaters and then of course their inimitable, I mean their very imitated range of bags…

here some examples, taken en catimini, Nowhere in the shops one is allowed to take pictures…..but I did.

Dark blue leather and suede. Oh so beautiful

The ERTHEE shop with small LOEWE bags on the shelf.

The Dolce & Gabbana shop. An Ali Babas cavern of beauty.

Dolce & Gabbana Mini Miss Sicily in Raffia and Vietnamese python

Pure beauty.

  Place des Lices.

Me at the cafe de Paris, relaxed.

Thanks for reading.

STAIR.

In Architects, Cities, Decorateurs, Decoration on 21/03/2012 at 15:07

Giorgio Armani is one of the great fashion designers of the past 50 years. I think his creations are a bit repetitive but still very stylish.

I am not a huge fan of his decoration and designers skills but when I saw this picture in a magazine of the newly opened Armani hotel in Milan I immediately felt grandeur and the views of a master.
