EVOLUTION OF TRANSFORMATION OF MY OFFICE ROOM.

In Collecting, Decoration, Housewhispering, Objects on 31/10/2013 at 10:15

I would like to show you the different stages of living in the only room where I could  stay during the dramatic floor painting of the living/showroom.

From the first moment I saw it till now.

My apartment is in constant change, but the base is almost finished.

I hope that you will enjoy the pictures as much as I didn’t enjoy camping.

I took the marquetry panels from the wall and it went of very easy, as the wallpaper came of.

I glued the panels to the wall 🙂

Not that smart but the only way to put them straight.

SAINT LAURENT PARIS.

In Cities, Fashion, Paris on 04/09/2012 at 13:26

;

What a brave idea to rename the pret-a-porter collection of Yves Saint Laurent in Saint Laurent Paris.

I believe that Mr. Saint Laurent would have approved this as he, himself named his pret-a-porter collection SAINT LAURENT RIVE GAUCHE.

Saint Laurent was well aware of the changing mood in society and 2 years before the big and violent manifestations of MAI 68 he opened his first boutique and named it RIVE GAUCHE. Referring to the more intellectual and creative side of the Seine.

Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Francoise Sagan, Juliette Greco,Les deux Magots, La Coupole,Brasserie Lipp, Boulevard Saint Germain are some names that remember us this side of Paris.

NEW CHAIR.

In Collecting, Furniture, I like, Objects on 01/08/2012 at 12:32

Last week, John and I bought 4 beautiful old chairs in a market. I loved immediately the simple sculptural lines of these chairs.
Not really useful as chairs around a dining or kitchen table but just one in front of a wall or near a sofa to put some books with your cupotea on top.
The chairs are sold apart for 75$ per piece. Measures on request.

Brighton is world renown for his Royal Pavilion. As I am not an historian and don’ t want to write long texts I recommend that you have a look at Wikipedia.
I will show you some pictures of the pavilion in a wonderful light.

BEFORE AND AFTER.

In Decoration, Housewhispering on 12/05/2012 at 11:30

A living and dining room needed a make over and my client wanted a more minimal approach of her interior. The only new item that we bought are the 3 chauffeuses that we put together to make a large sofa. All the other furniture comes from other rooms or from their house at the seaside. As for example the Pierre Paulin chairs and the danish inspired coffee table.

LIVING ROOM.

DINING ROOM.

I had the walls painted in a light grey colour that is constantly changing with the different sources of light.

The Venitian blinds were removed and the Oriental carpets were rolled up and put in the attic together with the furniture we didn’t use anymore.

The antique parquet de Versailles is now visible in all his splendor  and the room breaths a contemporary air.

CHANGING MOOD, ROOM.

In Decoration, Furniture, Uncategorized on 19/04/2012 at 09:53

Not such a good image from the apartment before furbishing.

I like to change my apartment following my moods and creativity. Seasons and light play also a definite role in remodelling. As doing House Whispering for clients I begin with my own surroundings.

Often with the same things and sometimes with the left overs and the wrong buys from the business. I will show you pictures of different settings.

I hope that you will enjoy this post.

The chicest and cheapest sofa: Ektorp from IKEA.

VACATION HOME IN IBIZA.

In Colours, Decoration, Housewhispering, I like on 20/03/2012 at 18:58

Since some years I spent a lot of holidays in this very pretty vacation home in the hills of Ibiza. My friends Miriam and Jan are perfect hosts and we are always on the run in antiques shops and markets to find objects that are Morrocan inspired and from ethnic origine.

I show here a selection of pictures that show the atmosphere of the house.

LA RENTREE

In Collecting, Decoration, Housewhispering, Objects on 13/09/2011 at 15:58

Time to start again working on my blog. It has been a nice and uncomplicated summer, holiday in Ibiza and I spend a lot of time at the seaside in Knokke Le Zoute and voila we are back and already half september. And back into business.

I started to take my new concept in practice and began to ”HOUSEWHISPER”  in some beautiful places throughout Flanders. Some friends were moving from one house to another and they asked me to choose the furniture and hang their collection of art and also to place their collections of objects. I went to their previous homes to make a choice of furniture, paintings and objets d’arts and then worked for 2 days alone with a helping hand to hang the paintings and place the furniture. I like to work alone and get the rhythm of the house listen to my favourite programs on the radio and not being disturbed not even by the telephone.

Here I Show you some quick pictures that I took with my Iphone, Bon not of the best quality but still good enough to give an idea.

The decoration of the house was done by my great friend Isabelle Reynders.

The beginning.

Mise en place.

In preparation, walls above fire place need to be painted in a soft shade.

Books need to be added yet.

Books will come soon.

Collection of mono chromatic Chinese porcelain.

Mix of styles in the dining room.

I still need a lamp above the table.

Work by Panamarenko.

Columbia Road (London).

In Cities, I like on 16/04/2011 at 15:17

Perfect Sunday.

Perfect weather. Perfect time to go out and visit one of London hotspots, Columbia Road Flower Market in Shoreditch. The street, is known by a lot of Londoners as the place to buy cheap plants and flowers and have a stroll around the antiques shops  and other galleries. People are queuing to have a late breakfast at one of the coffee stands in the neighboring streets and the ambiance is amazing. All kind of people, young and old,mix together.

Classy

Flower market

Real Smart, fake grass.

In the beginning of the street, you will find a fantastic shop called ” Vintage Heaven” selling vintage home ware, glass, porcelain, old blankets and luggage and plenty of other home stuff

Vintage Heaven

Vintage luggage

Next to the shop is ”Pot Luck” with a variety of coloured pots for in and out.

A bit further down the road you will find ”Future Vintage”  with second hand Gucci, Chanel, Shoes by Nicholas Kirkwood, I saw a beautiful dress by Giles Deacon and some things by Vivienne Westwood. And loads of other brands.

Future vintage.

On the corner of the street market ,a very sympatetic shop with paraphernalia, paint, cards, tiles, games, etc called Supernice.

Supernice.

In the middle of the street there are 2 shops  given the most poetic name:” Our true intent is all for your delight”. They import furniture made of driftwood, sixties pottery, large mirrors, candlesticks in different materials and a lot of objects from all over the world. a very nice mix. I absolutely love the walls in corrugated iron plates.

Knitted ducks, soooo cute…..
